OH no it isn’t! Oh yes it is! Fleckney’s Duckpond Players’ performance of Old King Cole last December is a multi-award winner.

The ‘Duckies’ won the coveted Pantomime of the Year Award from the Pantomime Alliance of Leicestershire recently.

Their show also won the awards for Best Set Design (Sarah Atherton and Jill Grimley), Best Comedy Trio (Jack Ablett, Vicky Ellis and John Spencer), Best Villain (Gilly Gladman), Best Lighting (Tom Haggerty), Best Director (Poete Henton) and Best Singing.

Nominations were received for Best Supporting Actress (Sarah Atherton), Best Principal Boy (Allie May), Best Choreography (Jill Wood), Best Sound, and Best Original Script (Pete Henton).

Performed at Fleckney Village Hall, the fun panto introduced audiences to Queen Nutty Slack and Lester the Jester and featured songs from Robbie Williams and the Jackson 5.

The group’s next production is The Sound of Music, after it became the first amateur group in the area to be given the licence to perform the show since its departure from London’s West End.

Tickets for the June show are on sale now and are available on 0116 2403135 or from duckpondplayers@hotmail.com.
