A TENDER and moving play penned by one of the greatest playwrights ever is being staged in Harborough.
Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie, is being staged by Market Harborough Drama Society at Harborough Theatre in Church Square.

Set in America, it tells the story of a woman abandoned by her husband, who clings to yesteryear and spends most of her time with her collection of little glass animals. She lives with her son and disabled daughter, the latter of which she obsesses about finding a suitor. Then, one day, a gentleman caller arrives.

Director Queenie Parry said: "I love this play and I've tried to inject more humour into it than the original production, because I felt any woman who had suffered like the main character must have a sense of humour to get through it!"

Newcomer Stephen Brown will be making his acting debut in the play, which runs from Tuesday, January 12, to Saturday, January 16. Tickets cost £5.50 to £8 from the Harborough District Council offices in Adam and Eve Street, Harborough.

l The cast of The Glass Menagerie...Stephen Brown, Kyle Keal, Jeanne Moore and Damian Perks.
