A MARINE attache from the U.S Embassy will be the guest of honour at an American-themed flower festival being held in Wilbarston this weekend
The village’s annual event has adopted a U.S theme this year as it coincides with America’s Independence Day.
Lt Col Gregg Lyon accepted an invitation to attend the festival, which takes place at All Saints’ Church in the village between 2-5pm on saturday and Sunday. The Lt Col will also visit a memorial plaque placed at Stoke Albany’s parish church in memory of a U.S pilot.
The flower festival will see village groups, families and individuals submitting arrangements at the church under the title ‘All Things American’. Visitors will be asked to vote for their favourite arrangement and a prize will be awarded to the one with most votes.
Admission to the flower festival costs £2.
