A HARD-working Lutterworth band have lined up a string of gigs in the coming months – starting with on in their home town.
The Dirty Robbers are a four-piece from Lutterworth who play their own brand of early rhythm and blues influenced by the likes of Freddie King, Young Jessie, Johnny Guitar Watson and The Sonics.
They are playing at the Fox Inn, in Rugby Road, this Saturday (March 7), and have lined up more gigs in Leicester.
The band features four musicians who made their name with other bands including Oliver Darling (Mike Sanchez, The Cadillac Kings, Palookaville!) on guitar, Matt Cowley (son of Stan) on drums, Matt Foundling (King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys, Otis Grand) on piano, and Craig Rhind (Steve Marriott, Dr Feelgood) on bass.
As well as gigs in Lutterworth and Leicester, the band have played at festivals and venues up and down the UK as well as touring in Finland last year and visiting Spain.
They have also recorded a live session for Mark Lamarr’s Radio 2 show, God’s Jukebox. The band have already released one album, called Warning!, a mix of their own material sprinkled with a few covers, and are busy writing songs for their next.
Tickets for this Saturday’s gig at the Fox Inn cost £4 on the door.
The band is also playing at The Donkey, in Leicester, on Sunday, at 3pm, where entry is free, and on April 4 at The Musician, in Leicester.
