THE HUNT is on to find bands and musicians to play at a free music festival taking place in Harborough in August.
The 'Rock on the Rec' event, is being organised by young music fans, and will take place at Symington's Recreation Ground in Market Harborough on Thursday, August 12.

Organisers are looking for young musicians, artists and bands to perform at the event, which runs from 4pm to 9pm.

There'll be a main stage, plus an 'open mic' tent where anyone can have a go.

Acts already confirmed to take part in the event include Elizabeth Cornish, Famous Last Words, The Working Project, The Astromaniacs, Burn City Burn and Bethany Taylor.

More are expected to be announced before the day itself.

Sian Ponting, the Rural Youth Voice project worker, who is one of the organisers, said: "We wanted to highlight the exceptional wealth of young talent in the district. This event, along with other work being developed by the Rural Youth Voice project, builds on what young people want and offers them the opportunity to really shine in our community."

As well as music, the event will also be showcasing films made by local young people about issues that are important to them, and there will be a selection of taster dishes of international cuisine available.

If people are interested in performing, or need more information, they should contact Sian Ponting on 07575 021144 or email sian@vasl.org.uk. Information is also available at www.enableyouth.org.uk.
