BUSINESS people in Harborough are being urged to get involved with a project to improve the town for the future.
Ideas to shape the town over the next 15 years were raised at the Hands on Harborough conference in March this year and five 'champions' have volunteered to help make them reality.

Acting town centre manager for HiT Melanie Wisher is helping to o
rganise the business committee and said: "We need more people involved in business in the town to participate in the business group so that we can take forward the ideas raised.

"We would like to investigate the ideas around improving work experience in businesses in the town.

"We would like to be able to provide more both in quantity and quality to young people.

"We have already started Lorry Watch and are looking to continue putting pressure where needed to reduce the amount of lorries in the town and other traffic issues.

"We want to look at tourism and marketing the town to improve and protect the economy. We also want to look at the markets in the town and events."

If anyone is interested in getting involved they should contact Melanie at Sainsburys on 01858 461724.

Melanie added: "This is not about lengthy meetings but making these things happen."
