AFTER running the Queen's Head public house in Saddington for nine years, George and Marilyn Bullers decided to leave the trade.
They lived in Thorpe Langton and bought a plot of land in Illston on the Hill.

But then the Fox and Goose pub in the village came on the market and they were asked if they wanted to run it, so they agreed and have been tenants there for almost 14 years.

Although a very small pub they have a large display of attractive hanging baskets outside to welcome patrons and visitors.

The baskets are supplied by Wheats County Garden Centre and contain a large variety and types of assorted flowers of different colours making a magnificent display at the front and sides of the pub.

George (59) said: "I also have bags hanging on the walls containing busy lizzies and petunias which I have grown from plugs I bought from Parsons Nurseries in Billesdon and planted myself. It is a daily job keeping the baskets and bags tidy and watered."

On September 7 this year the pub will be hosting their annual Onion Sunday to raise money for charity.

This is a family day out with lots going on including an auction and barbecue. Last year £5,000 was raised through the event and it is hoped this year it will be just as successful.
