WITH reference to Mr Scott's letter (November 19), I wholeheartedly agree with his sentiments concerning parking in the areas mentioned.
I also live in Nelson Street and feel that it will become even more congested by people parking for free and then walking into town.
Surely, when you buy a house with only on-road parking you would realise that you only have room to park one car! The fairest way would be to have residents’ parking permits, one permit per property - ‘end of’ - and anyone who has two or more cars should have an adequate household income to use the car parks nearby which are free after 6pm. This might also alleviate parking on the pavements allowing ease of access for pedestrians.
I work out of town and on returning home in an evening I frequently find that I have to drive round the nearby streets looking for somewhere to park as there is no space outside my own property.
This is a very bad situation being made worse by the lack of foresight and planning on behalf of the council, and it’s about time something was done.
