TRIUMPHANT Medbourne Under-13s Cricket Club have been nominated for Junior Team of the Year.
The youngsters capped an excellent season in July by beating a strong Syston side in the Leicestershire County Cup final.
The final was played at Medbourne’s home pitch and got off to a cracking start with openers Jake Noble (25no) and Joel Nance (20) putting on just under 50.
Excellent running between the wickets took Medbourne to 97 for 7 off their 20 overs.
They then had to field and bowl well to win the match but got off to a tough start after conceding a number of wides in the opening overs.
However, Medbourne rallied back with excellent fielding from Fin Clarke, Adam Dalby and Joe Bell.
Syston were eventually left needing 12 to win off the last over but were limited to just 7. It was an excellent achievement from a very young side.
