SPEEDSTER Edmund Best has been nominated for Junior Sportsman of the Year.
The young motorcycle grass track rider had a remarkable result at the ACU British Championships at Winchester in October where he came away with two trophies. It was a fitting finale to a momentous year, leaving all competition in both the cadet 65cc and MX65 classes trailing in his exhaust fumes.
His spectacular year has seen him notch up 42 wins from the 46 events he entered.
The eight-year-old made a dream start to his spring/summer campaign with wins across the UK, reproducing the form which saw him crowned a British champion last year.
The Little Bowden Primary School pupil won ten of 11 events between March and June, picking up wins in places as far afield as Yorkshire, Somerset and Norwich.
He also won the Lincolnshire Junior Poacher event, a national title.
Grass track racing is a sister sport to speedway, racing at high speeds on a flat, left-hand oval, varying in sizes from 300 to 800 metres. Edmund rides a 65cc KTM home-engineered machine.
