ECO-TOWN proposers Co-op remain hopeful that their 'vision' could be built in the future.
In a statement today, the Co-operative Estate's managing director Lynda Shillaw, said:
"The Government recognises that our proposed scheme has the potential to benefit Leicester in terms of affordable housing supply, green infrastructure and other sustainable benefits.
"While our site is not in the first wave of Eco Towns, today's announcement means that we will continue to work with the Local Authorities in Leicestershire to bring our plans and ideas forward through the local planning processes, enabling it to be considered alongside other proposals such as the need for an incremental 8000 homes in Market Harborough, currently being debated as part of the review of the Local Development Framework.
"We believe that in the longer term our drive and vision will deliver a sustainable and financially viable development that fully reflects the values and principles of our business."
