Windy Ridge and former site of Ritz cinema given go ahead for development

CRUNCH decisions were made at a planning meeting last night to decide the fate of two schemes in Harborough.

The planning committee at Harborough District Council voted to approve retirement flats proposals for the former Ritz cinema.

They also approved controversial plans to build 141 homes at the so-called Windy Ridge site off Glebe Road in Harborough.

Planning officers at the council had recommended the application by Red Row Homes to build on the Windy Ridge site to be given the go-ahead.

The planning committee had deferred making a decision on the Windy Ridge plan when the application was last put before them on August 21.

Members had requested more information about drainage and revisions to layout and levels along the site’s northern boundary.
