Science conference fires the imagination...and some rockets
From slime to ice cream made from liquid, giant bubbles to a rocket launch - a science extravaganza at Robert Smyth Academy fired the imaginations of children.
The academy’s fourth Annual Primary Science Conference saw 300 pupils from 13 primary schools across the area come together to enjoy some weird and wonderful experiments.
It was made possible by the small army of teachers who gave up their Saturday to run fantastic workshops for the youngsters.
The day finished with a talk about the perils of space travel from Sophie Allen of the National Space Centre.
Judith Green, science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) director at Robert Smyth, said: “I’d like to thank the many students from Robert Smyth who helped and were a credit to the Academy and pay tribute to all the children for their sheer enthusiasm for science.”
