A LUTTERWORTH pub named after a former town man who made his mark on world history has been refurbished after it was taken over by new owners.

The Sir Frank Whittle pub, in Linden Drive, was formerly known as The Balloon but was taken over and renamed two years ago.

However, new owners stepped in a number of months ago and have given the pub a new look.

Tina Leader, who is running the pub alongside husband Nik for her parents Denise and George East, who already own and run The Shambles in Lutterworth town centre, said: “It’s a new venture for me because although I’ve worked and been brought up in the pub trade, I’ve never run my own pub.

“My parents have run The Shambles for over three years and before that were involved with Lutterworth Golf Club.

“We’ve improved the garden area and improved the inside of the pub. It already had a modern look but we’ve improved on that and turned the lounge area into a restaurant.”
