Pre-school and children’s club proposal for bungalow

PLANS for a new pre-school near a Harborough primary school have been revealed.

Samantha Faulkner wants to open the facility, which would also offer before and after-school services offering breakfasts and teas, in a converted bungalow next to Ridgeway Primary Academy.

The planning application submitted to Harborough District Council says the pre-school would cater for a maximum of 24 children aged two to 11.

It would open from 7.30am to 6pm, Monday to Fridays during term time, starting from November if planning approval is granted.

Mrs Faulkner, who also operates stay and play sessions at Melton Mowbray Children Centre, says the facility is much needed and that the project has support from the primary school.

The new pre-school would employ five full-time staff, says the application.

It states: “This proposal is to operate a much-needed child-care service at an ideal location, with only positive impacts on traffic, pedestrian, safety CO2 emissions, local economy and child welfare.”
