Memory Corner, June 14, 2012

Memory Corner, June 14, 2012

THIS photograph taken around 1944 shows members of Hallaton and Medbourne Home Guard. Vincent Ward of Harborough brought in this photograph showing his uncle Ernie Ward (circled on the back row, second from left),

Recently Ernie, who lived at Oxendon House, died at the grand age of 101 on February 10 this year and at his funeral recently there was a celebration of life book of photographs of Ernie for people to see. The book also included a card from the Queen sent on the occasion of his 100th birthday and this photograph was with the book.

The fifth man from the left in the back row was Fred Ward, Ernie’s brother. There were 18 children in the family.

Were any of your family members pictured here?
