Stop giving Staffie dogs bad press

I AM writing to express my disappointment in your recent article concerning attacks on postmen and ladies.

The photograph accompanying the article was of a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, yet nowhere in the article is the type of dog involved in any of the attacks mentioned.

It gives the impression that the Staffie is the archetypal vicious breed which only adds weight to the bad press that this breed gets.

As proud Staffie owners for the past 14 years, we know that it is bad owners that make bad dogs – any dog can be provoked into being aggressive when mistreated.

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a wonderful, affectionate, loyal family dog.

Our children have grown up with our dogs and never once have we had any cause for concern.

Quite the opposite, in fact – they are true friends and playmates.

Please consider the damage that this type of coverage does before printing such an article again.

Mr & Mrs Packham,

Welton Close,

Kibworth.
