I THOUGHT your readers would like to know that from April to October 2011 40 per cent of the UK armed forces personnel deployed to Afghanistan for operation Herrick 14 will be from the Royal Naval Service.

These consist of three naval air squadrons, the majority of the Joint Medical Group and 3 Commando Brigade, Royal Marines.

As all service personnel wear combat gear it is difficult to differentiate between the Services and many assumed that the Royal Naval Service is not involved in this campaign.

The Royal Naval Association support the men and women of the Naval Services.
