Perhaps there should be a course on using sticks

Regarding your article on January 3, entitled Flood cleared by stick.

Following an early Christmas lunch on December 25 my 91-year-old mother Hilda and I went for a short drive around parts of Northamptonshire, passing through Desborough, Rothwell and ending at Geddington.

We stopped to take photos of Queen Eleanor’s Cross and the River Ise at the stone bridge.

Returning to Market Harborough via Braybrooke, we had to divert past The Swan Inn as the road before the medieval bridge in the village was flooded.

So well done Mr Clarke in clearing the flood, you should start a training course in flood response.

I’m sure several municipal organisations could use your expertise with a stick.
