Live twitter chat about tracing birth relatives
WITH the increased focus on adoption and social networking in the press recently, many adopted people may consider tracing birth relatives – and vice-versa – using sites such as Facebook.
This is a relatively new phenomenon, but one that is here to stay, because it enables people to trace family members relatively easily, quickly and cheaply.
However, making contact with birth relatives can be a complex and emotional process.
It is important that people have the opportunity to think about the issues and potential outcomes before they go forward.
The British Association for Adoption and Fostering (BAAF) hosted a live Twitter Chat recently to discuss the pros and cons of tracing birth relatives online.
