Fairy cakes became works of art

ON Wednesday, March 7 the members of Great Easton WI were held spellbound by their speaker Heidi Kirkland, who demonstrated how to turn a humble fairy cake into an edible work of art!

Using various types of icing, for example cream cheese, dual coloured and a chocolate cream, she piped swirls on to the cakes. She then showed that with a bit of imagination they could be given an individual touch using fruit and everyday items from the sweet counter, finished off with a dash of glitter or spray on colour. She accompanied this with a lively and amusing commentary. Finally each cake was raffled, much to the delight of the members. Heidi inspired everyone to go home and have a go themselves.

The next meeting will be on Wednesday, April 5 at 7.30pm in Great Easton Village Hall when the speaker will be Lynne Woods, who will be talking about massage and her work with the rescue workers in the aftermath of 9-11.
