Does a major national retailer exist?

MUCH has been written (and said) lately about the proposed future of our Market Hall, and popping up quite frequently is reference to “a major national retailer”, which might be interested in kindly taking our market off our hands.

Now I, and many others, would like to know whether such a prospective client exists, have any negotiations taken place, and if so, then how far forward are they?

Rumours (or inside knowledge) abound and I am sure that your readers would welcome the chance to find answers to these question. maybe someone could find out for us?
