She was born in Island Magee, in Northern Ireland in 1919 on December 2 to Capt. William Smyth M.B.E and his wife Mary.

Brenda was brought up in Liverpool where she started her teaching career during the blitz.

After the war she married her husband who was formerly an R.A.F flight mechanic Raymond George Hatton.

She travelled widely following her retirement and visited her younger daughter in Australia.

Mrs Hatton also visited many countries on her way to Australia to see her daughter.

She was an active member of the Lutterworth WI and the talking Newspaper for the Blind and a founder member of Lutterworth Trefoil Guild well into her 80s.

Her husband Raymond Hatton passed away in 2007.

Mrs Hatton herself leaves two daughters, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She went into care in 2008 owing to her dementia.

The funeral service will be held at Lutterworth Methodist Church in Bitteswell Road, Lutterworth.
