A FREE concert was held at Lutterworth’s Wycliffe Rooms as part of the 50th Birthday celebrations of Age Concern Lutterworth and District.

Following a grant awarded from the Big Lottery’s Awards for All scheme, the concert saw 135 people enjoying an afternoon of entertainment from Lutterworth Town Band and the U3A choir.

Free community buses were put on to take people to the event, on Saturday, September 8.

Martin Allen, Age Concern’s chief officer in Lutterworth, said: “There have been a number of good compliments made about the afternoon which was enjoyed by everyone who attended.”

The group aims to make later life a more fulfilling and enjoyable experience and services co-ordinator Alison Anderton said she hoped the event would serve as a thank you for their supporters as well as provide a fun event for thosenew to the group.

The group is also holding a 50th birthday party at the Wycliffe Rooms, in George Street on Sunday, October 14.

The free party will feature afternoon tea, an open bar, bingo and entertainer Sammy Waters, whose singing act has proved popular at previous events.
