Climate change on the agenda for youngsters

YOUNGSTERS from the Welford area will be visiting Daventry District Council’s civic offices as part of a range of activities promoting local democracy.

Pupils from Clipston and Naseby primary schools will be visiting the Council Chamber on October 25 and 26 to learn about health improvement and climate change. They will speak to officers from the council and put forward their best ideas to improve the environment. It follows on from national Local Democracy Week, which takes place from October 15 to 21.

The campaign is an annual event aiming to make youngsters more aware of how local councils make decisions that affect everyday lives.

Cllr Alan Hills, community portfolio holder for the council, said: “These sessions will help them understand the value of recycling, how to save energy and how to lead a healthy lifestyle.”
