A FLOWER festival will be held in Kibworth as part of celebrations for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Organised by the Kibworth U3A Flower Group, the Church Flower Rota led by Alison Picken and supported by the Kibworth Improvement Team, the festival will be held in St Wilfrid’s Church.

It will feature about 20 arrangements depicting aspects of the Queen’s life and interests, including her wedding, the Coronation and the Commonwealth.

There will be displays themed on the armed forces, the four countries of the UK and the Queen’s love of outdoor pursuits.

Mrs Picken said: “A large team of enthusiasts is devoting much time and skill to designing and planning what promises to be an outstanding show.”

The festival will be open each day from Saturday, June 2 to Tuesday June 5, opening from 10.30am to 4.30pm each day with the exception of the Sunday, when it will open at midday. Admission is free.

A special launch party will be held from 7-9pm on the Friday, June 1, attended by MP Edward Garnier. Tickets cost £5 from Kibworth Post Office, the Coach and Horses or on 0116 2792493.
