Carlton Curlieu turbine rejected

AN APPLICATION to build a wind turbine in Carlton Curlieu was thrown out at a meeting of Harborough District Council’s planning committee on Tuesday night.

It was recommended for refusal by officers as they deemed its size, siting, design and prominence would appear as a dominant and visually intrusive feature on the landscape.

Speaking at the meeting, farmer Nick Jones, objecting to the proposal, said the applicant had not considered “local issues”.

He said the surrounding countryside would be spoilt by the wind turbine.

County councillor Kevin Feltham said the height of the turbine would equate to 22 double decker buses.
