Call for performers at late shop festival

LATE Night Shopping in Harborough is just days away and preparations are falling into place for the festive spectacle.

Organisers are appealing for entertainers to come forward to perform throughout the town on the night.

Entertainers can be singers, belly dancers, zumba performers or any other talent individuals or groups think they have to offer.

Anyone interested in performing at Late Night Shopping should contact Mark Faulkner at Andrew Granger and Co on 01858 431315.

At the event on Friday, December 7, the town will come alive with festive fun.

Reindeer will welcome people to the town. They have been sponsored by Harborough estate agents Andrew Granger & Co.

Businesses have got involved in proceedings, either by opening late, providing funds for the event or by donating raffle prizes.

Waitrose will be providing a band and bandstand on the night.

There are plans also to create a traditional winter wonderland at the top of High Street, which will have a Dickensian feel to it.

The town’s Christmas tree, which has been sponsored by Market Harborough Building Society, has had its lights turned on ready for the popular Late Night Shopping festival, which attracts thousands of people to Harborough.

There will be a magician in the Market Hall, mince pies and mulled wine at the Harborough Theatre and shops with wonderfully-dressed windows and staff in fancy dress.

The event can prove a nice shop window for community groups and the newly-formed Welland Valley Rotary is just one of the groups taking up the chance to showcase itself to new members.

There will be collection tins all over the town, which will support local good causes.
