Appeal for two new trustees at Harborough Town Football Club

Harborough Town Football Club is appealing for two people to join its board of trustees.

The Bowden’s Park club, off Northampton Road, is a registered charity responsible for running the football facilities at the site.

The facilities are open seven days a week and are used by 32 teams ranging from the under-5s to veterans.

The charity is managed by a board of trustees and currently has eight members. Its chairman Laurence Jones has been involved in football at all levels and is a senior National Game Business Support Manager with the FA, and there trustees with responsibility for health and safety, building maintenance, junior and senior football, child protection and marketing.

All trustees are volunteers and are unpaid. The board is supported by an independent accountant who looks after the financial records, monthly reporting, statutory records and reporting and the operations manager who acts as secretary to the board. The trustees are also responsible for one full- time employee who is the operations manager.

Two further trustees are required to strengthen the board and to bring specialist skills. A knowledge of, or an interest in football, is not a primary requirement. What is more important to the club is the desire to be involved with, and a wish to make a positive contribution to an important local charity involved in promoting health recreation mainly to young people of the Harborough district.

For an informal discussion, please phone Mr Jones on 07921 502208. A formal application will then be required for those wishing to be considered for the roles.
