Aerobathon to help boost Sophie’s marathon effort

An aerobathon is being held in Little Bowden to help boost the charity funds of a London Marathon runner.

Personal trainer Sophie Albert, who lives in Kibworth, is organising the six-hour aerobathon at Little Bowden Primary School on Saturday, April 6. It will consist of six hours of aerobics, which Sophie will be leading, with just 20-minute breaks every two hours to refuel.

Sophie is taking part in the London Marathon for the third year in a row and needs to raise at least £2,000 which will go to the Children with Cancer charity, a cause which she is a great advocate of.

She said: “When I am out on my training runs and the pain barrier kicks in, I think about the children that have to suffer on a daily basis with cancer. They have no choice, however my pain is over after a few hours and if I can raise money for Children with Cancer through my running, it is the very least I can do to help.”

Sophie, who works as a personal trainer at Pure Gym in Leicester as well as running her own personal training company called Body Business, is hoping to beat the four-hour mark this year, having finishing last year in a time of 4 hours 31 mins,

The aerobathon will run from 9.30am until 3.30pm and there will also be some freebies on the day and some health-related refreshments for sale to help boost the charity total.

The school has kindly allowed Sophie to use its premises for free, so all of the money raised will go to the cause.

“The aerobathon will be a great day for all to participate in and is open to adults and children - both male and female,” Sophie said, “I’m putting together a lively selection of music, so it should be a really fun and enjoyable day for all.”

It costs £3 to take part (£1.50 for U14s) and everyone is welcome to join in for as little or as long as they like.
