YOUNG runners are being urged to sign up for this year's Harborough Carnival fun run and help the Harborough St John Ambulance building appeal.
The 1km run for children aged eight to 14 will take place on Sunday, June 14, from 10.30am on the fields
behind Harborough Leisure Centre.
A shorter dash will be held for under-eights.
Entrants are encouraged to raise sponsorship money, half of which will go to St John, with the remainder going to a cause of the runner's choice.
Medals will be provided by the Midland Army and Navy Stores in Adam and Eve Street, Harborough, but the organisers are still hoping to find a sponsor for prizes.
St John Ambulance is aiming to raise £70,000 over the next couple of years to modernise its building in Abbey Street, Harborough, which is used as a meeting and training place for its volunteer members (Badgers six to ten-year-olds, Cadets 11 to 17-year-olds, adults, Fellowship and Community First Responders), a garage for the ambulance and first aid unit, as well as a first aid training venue for the community.
It is also hired out to a youth dance group, an ethnic prayer group, a dance/fitness group and for carers' pampering.
To enter the fun run email Tracy Campe at the address at the top of the page with your name, contact telephone number, age and the charity you will be running for.
