THE CENTREPIECE of Harborough Carnival, as always, will be the arena in the showground.
After the annual parade finishes, the crowds will move on to Symington's Recreation Ground, off St Mary's Road, where the main arena will host a programme of per
formers and entertaining events from about 1pm onwards.
The list of entertainment will include the ever-popular schools It's A Knockout competition, organised by Harborough Round Table, as well as the primary schools five-a-side tournament run by Harborough Town Juniors FC.
There will also be a performance by the Derby Midshipmen marching band.
As usual, there will also be Cyril Bishton's fairground rides, plus a host of stalls and games.
The Harborough FM stage will again be providing music and public announcements.
Harborough Rotary Club has organised the showground events and will be stewarding on the day. It also supports a number of good causes during the year.
In addition, the group organises annual young chef and young musician competitions at Robert Smyth School.
The club's big event this year, following its first party in the park two years ago, is Rotary Rocks also at Symingtons Rec featuring Queen tribute band The Champions and many local bands on July 4.
Members meet every Monday at the Three Swans Hotel. For more details, visit www.rotarymarketharborough.org.uk.
